“Educate hearts to charity; valorise the lay vocation in the Guanellian Family; collaborate for the rediscovery and diffusion of the charism; work for the civilization of love": these are the essential aims of the Guanellian Lay Movement (MLG), clearly stated and commented on in the National Assembly, celebrated in Rome in the "Domus Urbis" house (23-24 January 2010) by the Italian Council of the Movement. The Assembly had the task of presenting, for study and in-depth study, the Identity Document of the GUANELLIAN LAY MOVEMENT: "Making charity the heart of the world",
In the presentation of the Document, the peculiarities that qualify it were brought into focus:
- It has no “normative character”
- It is not and does not want to be a "Statute or Regulation" but an inspirational text that presents the identity, the inspiring principles, the aims and the organization of the Movement.
- It is not an organism which overlaps with the Guanellian groups already constituted or which will be constituted in the future.
But, positively, the MLG is the common home of all men of good will who, attracted by the spirituality of Don Guanella, have the poor at heart and wish to make the culture of solidarity and love grow in the world.
As Don Guanella already expressed himself in 1901: "Our intention and our desire is to do good to everyone, believers and unbelievers, good and bad, as long as it is within the limits of our means, referring only the glory to God, from Whom comes to us every well.
