Brother Giovanni Vaccari was born in Sanguinetto, near Verona, on June 5, 1913. He entered Fara Novarese, where, after attempting to learn Greek and Latin, he was persuaded by Father Michele Bacciarini to become a lay brother. He made his perpetual vows in Barza d'Ispra on September 12, 1939, on the eve of World War II, which had already begun with the German invasion of Poland. He served in Rome for more than 12 years on two occasions under Cardinal Clemente Micara. He then left for Spain, where he spent the last years of his life dedicated to vocations, a life he was cut short by a car accident on October 9, 1971.
