In the XIII General Chapter (1981) he was succeeded in the leadership of the Congregation by Don Pietro Pasquali, confirmed in 1987. Above all, two fields of action opened up before his commitment: to complete the updating of the normative texts and to support the vitality of the missionary foundations. The Constitutions, in fact, were perfected in the extraordinary general chapter, celebrated in two sessions in 1984-85, then presented to the Holy See and definitively approved by it on 22 March 1986. On the mission front there was a period of great apostolic courage: in December 1983 the first mission was opened in Mexico, in 1986 contacts were made with India, in 1988 with Poland, the following year with the Philippines and with Nigeria. |
