In the chapter of 1993 Fr Nino Minetti succeeded Fr Pietro Pasquali, reconfirmed in the XVII General Chapter of 2000. In addition to giving impetus to the consolidation of the missionary openings already underway, he added foundations in Ghana, New Congo, Guatemala. He introduced new bodies into the geography of the Institute (Delegation of Our Lady of Guadalupe, which includes the communities of Mexico, Guatemala and Colombia, the Delegation of Spain and the Indian Delegation). He found himself facing the many problems relating to dialogue with the various contemporary cultures, to the small number of priestly vocations encountered in particular in the present century. He was confronted with the very delicate tasks of ongoing formation, of the new seminaries inserted in the places of the missions, of the downsizing of the works to promote an ever more qualified and punctual service to the person. |
