Superior from 1946 - 1958
Don Luigi Alippi was elected Superior General in the VII General Chapter (1946) succeeding Don Leonardo Mazzucchi who for twenty-two years had ruled with singular wisdom, a firm hand and absolute fidelity to the Guanellian spirit. Don Alippi humbly and simply accepted that service of supreme authority in the Institute, trusting in Providence and in the protection of the holy Founder. Soon he was able to reveal his ability and his prudent dynamism. After visiting the Houses of Italy and Switzerland, he took care of the Works of Argentina and Paraguay trying to develop them and to extend the Work to other countries of Latin America. In fact, in 1947-1948 Don Alippi undertook his first trip across the ocean to meet and encourage those confreres, visit the Institutes and parishes that had been in operation for years, start up the recently founded houses with the prospect of new ones, and flank them with apostolic schools for vocations. He was confirmed again in VIII (1952). In the twelve years of government, the Guanellian Institutes multiplied in Italy as well and the old ones were renewed and expanded.
