Born in Montecompatri (Rome) on February 18, 1852.
Died in Monreale (Palermo) on 19 September 1924.
Augusto Intreccialagli entered the order of Discalced Carmelites at a very young age, among whom he made his profession in 1869. Ordained a priest in 1875, he was superior of the convents of S. Silvestro di Montecompatri and S. Maria della Scala in Rome. He was then chosen as superior of the Roman Province on several occasions (1891-1894, 1897-1900, 1903-1906). Consultor of the Congregation of Bishops and Regulars since 1896, he was a member of the Commission for the examination of new institutes, coming into contact with many founders and foundresses (Saint Frances Saveria Cabrini, Blessed Mary of the Apostles, Teresa Maria della Croce) of whom he became friend and adviser. Apostolic visitor to various dioceses in Lazio and Umbria on behalf of Pius X, he was elected bishop of Caltanissetta on 24 July 1907, apostolic administrator of Monreale in 1911 and coadjutor with right of succession of the archbishop of Monreale on 16 March 1914, from whom he took over in 1919. He was co-founder, with Margherita Crispi, of the Oblate Sisters of Divine Love. He was declared venerable by John Paul II on January 22, 1991.
The Carmelite religious was the author of a confidential letter in which on 20 September 1901 he communicated to Don Guanella the decisions of the Congregation of Bishops and Regulars who, while praising and encouraging the charitable activity carried out by the Guanellian institutes, deferred their approval until when the Founder brought them into line with current legislation. Indeed, the Carmelite religious offered his help to carry out this work of adaptation. But Don Guanella probably considered this encouragement as a "general approval" of his congregations.
