Born in Piatta (Sondrio) on March 2, 1873.
Died in Isola Comacina (Como) on August 4, 1929.
Ordained a priest in 1895, he was parish priest of Arigna (SO) from 1896 to 1905, parish priest of Civello (CO) from 1905 to 1919 and archpriest vicar forane of Isola Comacina from 1919 to his death.
Mariano Canclini had known Don Guanella since his seminary days, when he had already settled in Como with the Casa della Divina Provvidenza, he was the subject of discussion among the diocesan clergy. Don Guanella then entrusted Don Canclini with the compilation of a popular work on hypnotism and spiritualism, of which he himself drew up the summary after several esoteric episodes took place on Lake Como, but this work was never completed. The Guanellian bulletin then, on the occasion of the death of his father Pasquale, recalls the virtuous life of this honest farmer, lovingly assisted by his daughter Barbara, a Guanellian religious sent by the institute to assist him in his long and painful illness.
