Born in Penango (Asti) on August 6, 1833.
Died in Fossano (Cuneo) on July 29, 1909.
Ordained priest for the diocese of Casale on 9 April 1859, he obtained a doctoral degree in theology and canon law. Appointed waiter of honor of His Holiness in 1866, member of the Catholic Academy of Religion in 1868, domestic prelate of His Holiness in 1869, he was numbered among the supernumerary abbreviating prelates at the Apostolic Chancery on 2 May 1870. On 24 November 1871 he was recommended by Pius IX to the episcopal see of Fossano.
Don Guanella recalls in his own Thoughts about Don Bosco how, as soon as the foundation of Trinità was launched, during a lunch in the company of Msgr. Manacorda and of Mr * Giovanni Battista Dupraz, Don * Giovanni Bosco spoke words of comfort towards him and earned the sympathy of the commend them, toasting nobly in their honour.
