Born in Sant'Angelo a Cancelli (Avellino) on April 20, 1841.
Died in Sant'Agata dei Goti (Benevento) on November 15, 1921.

Ordained a priest on 22 September 1866 and obtained his doctorate in theology at the theological college of Naples in 1878, he was spiritual bursar and then archpriest of Santa Maria di Toro, in the diocese of Benevento, then vicar general of the diocese of Acerenza. Teacher and rector of the diocesan seminary, he was appointed bishop of Lacedonia on 27 February 1880 and promoted on 27 March 1885 to the archiepiscopal see of Taranto. Targeted by the hostility of some Christian Democrat priests, he resigned and was called to Rome. On November 15, 1908 he was transferred to the titular archiepiscopal church of Nicomedia and later appointed vicar capitular of St. Peter's basilica in the Vatican.

On March 19, 1911, in the temporary church of San Giuseppe al Trionfale, Msgr. Jorio administered first communion and confirmation to about thirty children, prepared and dressed with care by the Guanellian nuns. The vicar of the Vatican chapter naturally urged them to persevere in the good intentions and duties of every good Christian. You must have certainly met Don Guanella on the morning of March 21, 1912, when in the triduum of celebrations for the inauguration of the church of San Giuseppe, you celebrated the pontifical mass of that day. When Don Guanella died, she sent a telegram of condolences for the "great void left by the worthy founder".
