Born in Orthez (France) on April 6, 1856.
Died in Sens (France) on November 29, 1931.
Priest of the Parisian clergy, with a degree in theology and canon law in Rome, he was elected bishop of Valence on February 21, 1906 and consecrated in the Vatican basilica by Pius X himself on the following February 25. From 12 January 1912 he was archbishop of Sens, in France.
On February 28, 1913, Monsignor Chesnelong, accompanied by the papal secretary Monsignor Giuseppe Pescini and by Don Guanella himself, visited the works in Rome, rejoicing greatly in the known reality.
