Born in Pomponesco (Mantova) on April 24, 1871.
Died in Milan on November 4, 1930.
As a lawyer, he was a legal consultant at the Cassa di Risparmio delle Provincie Lombarde.
A good friend of Don Guanella and his confreres, he had known Don Luigi since the summer of 1897 or 1898 when he was introduced to him by *Paolo Arcari, then a student and journalist in the *«Osservatore Cattolico». From his long and detailed testimony to the beatification process it emerges that from then on he assiduously frequented Don Guanella, from whom he always received a "festive and cordial welcome" and spiritual exhortations which he treasured. At the time when he had been director of the People's Secretariat of Milan he remembered that he had always referred to the Guanellian works the poor in need of shelter who had been refused by other city shelters, certain, as in fact happened, that they would not be rejected. In 1905, writing to Don *Giuseppe Crippa, Don Guanella authorized him to contact the lawyer. Stocking to order the collection deeds of a lodger from Roveredo. It was perhaps in that period that Don Guanella brought his young friend to * Pius X, who was amazed both by the familiarity and consideration he enjoyed in pontifical circles, and by the progress achieved by the * agricultural colony of Monte Mario. Finally, it is probable that the lawyer Calza, as lawyer of the * Cassa di Risparmio delle Provincie Lombarde facilitated the requests for subsidies that Don Guanella presented and urged to be presented in aid of his charitable works.
